Indian Space Research Organisation provides fire retardant alternative material

CASPOL can create a temperature difference of 5 to 6 degrees
Material used by ISRO for their rockets is useful in Indian Construction too, says the agency. CASPOL is a coating emulsion. It is water-based and flameproof with flame retardant, waterproofing and thermal insulation properties. It may have application on walls, thatched roofs and wood, ISRO has said. It is environmentally safe, can be sprayed on surfaces needing protection and they call it 'fire proof' actually. It can create a temperature difference fo 5 to 6 degrees. It's also to prevent water seepage.

"  use space technology to create fireproof household."
"ISRO uses a chemical compound named CASPOL to save the fuel tanks of their PSLV's from fire. This compound is a fire retardant  that can be applied on different surfaces to provide effective fire proofing solutions. .."
".. ISRO is willing to share this technology with companies that can provide cheap solutions of fire proofing Indian households. .."
" ..One litre of CASPOL can coat 1.5 sq metre with a thickness of 500 micron, which is practically adequate for fire protection and thermal insulation," the statement said. .."
".. ISRO is waiting for a company that can work with it to ready the product for commercial use."

It can also be used in train coaches, cars and bikes.

ANI Jest: You could say that ISRO's material makes 'lateral entry' in Indian Construction! Whoops.
